| | Summer Furoshiki Workshop
After having to cancel due to bad weather last year, we were finally able to hold our first Furoshiki Workshop at the Woodstock Public Library on Saturday, August 6.
While the maximum of 15 people had signed up, only 7 attended. However, this intimate group size was ideal as we were able to interact with each person. The library also generously bought furoshiki for each participant to use and take home, which made everyone happy.
We started with an introduction to the different types of fabric and sizes, and then went over the basic knots. After that, we practiced wrapping boxes and tying different types of bags. One of the biggest hits was learning how to wrap wine bottles for a beautiful presentation.
All of the attendees were very interested in learning and paid careful attention as we demonstrated each style. They then enthusiastically practiced tying it on their own.
As a (one-time) treat, we also handed out some homemade matcha cookies and lemon shortbread at the end.
Everyone had nothing but positive things to say and several asked for MHJCA’s contact information to stay informed about future events.

Furoshiki Workshop Instructor | | 夏の風呂敷ワークショップ
昨年、悪天候のためキャンセルになりました風呂敷ワークショップが、ようやくウッドストックのライブラリーで8月6日に開催されました。
15名定員もすぐ埋まり空き待ちの人達もいたようですが、当日は7名の参加でした。この人数は各人に丁寧に説明する事ができ、良かったと思います。
ライブラリーからは各人に風呂敷（持ち帰れる）も用意されました。
最初に風呂敷の生地の種類、サイズを説明。次に基本となる結び方の後、これもライブラリーで用意してくれた箱を使っての包み方の練習。
風呂敷バッグの作り方などもいたしましたが、一番人気はワインボトルの包み方でした。一枚の布の風呂敷が様々に使えることにとても感激したようです。
参加者の皆さんはとても熱心にインストラクターが見せる風呂敷の使い方を見て、それぞれに練習していました。
最後にこれは一度だけのお楽しみですが、ホームメイド（インストラクター作）の抹茶クッキーとレモンサブレが手渡され皆さん大喜びでした。
皆さんMHJCAの活動に興味を持たれ、今後のイベントについても質問されました。
